These terms are the simple rules for using thehangmangame.com and everything on it. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

“The Hangman Game”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of thehangmangame.com, Akshay Bhargava, based in India. “You” means anyone who visits. The terms cover every page, the game, the daily word, online rooms, the solver, the custom maker, printables and share links.

Using the site

The game is free for personal, family, classroom and club use, with no account needed. You are welcome to play, share links, print sheets and post screenshots of your results.

Please do not use the site in ways that could break it or spoil it for others. You agree not to:

• copy, resell or republish the site, its code, word lists or written content as your own;
• scrape or mirror the site in bulk, or flood it with automated requests;
• try to hack, reverse-engineer or disrupt the site or its services;
• use the site for gambling, bullying, harassment or anything unlawful where you live.

Custom games, secret words and online rooms

You are responsible for the words you type into the custom maker, two-player mode or an online room. Keep them kind and suitable for the people you share them with, especially children. Custom links carry your words inside the link, so anyone who has the link can see them; do not put private information in a game. Online rooms connect two players directly, and we do not watch or store what is sent.

Printables and classroom use

Printable sheets and word lists are free for personal and classroom use. Please do not sell them or bundle them into paid products. Teachers may share links and printouts with their students freely.

Our content

Hangman itself is a traditional game that anyone may play; it was described in print as early as 1894. The site's design, code, drawings, characters, word lists, meanings and written guides belong to us. Short quotes with a link back are welcome. Anything more needs our written permission.

Feedback

If you send an idea, a word list or other feedback, you allow us to use it to improve the site without owing you anything, though we are always glad to say thank you.

Availability and changes

We work hard to keep the site running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, pause or remove features, word lists or pages at any time. Scores and stickers live in your browser, so clearing your data or switching devices will reset them.

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Word meanings are short and simple by design and are not a full dictionary. Strategy tips help you enjoy the game; they do not promise a win.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, arising from your use of the site. Because the site is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to ₹1,000 (or US$15). Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Copyright complaints

We review notices under India's Information Technology Act and Copyright Act, and we also accept notices in the format of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute. Visitors elsewhere keep any consumer rights their local law gives them that cannot be waived. Before going to court, please email us; most problems can be sorted out with a friendly conversation.
